Devils Tower is our First National Monument. And is my favorite National Monument.

We met up with Mountain Beaches after finding out they have the same rig setup as we do. So we they were on their way to South Dakota and I suggested for them to check out Devils Tower and we could meet up. They agreed and we had a nice visit. Check out their video they made….Plus were in it!

These were the cutest little Bear Cubs. I had so much fun watching these guys climb up the trees and just shred and break the branches. The park changes out the trees daily as these trees are sticks by the end of the day.

Amazing signing storm over Devils Tower. When we were here before in July 2009…We had a very scary night of heavy winds and lightning. But tonight, we were prepared for it. It was difficult to keep the camera dry and me so I didn’t get struck. Wow, that was truly amazing.

We had a wonderful visit with my friend Kristy. I hadn’t seen her in many years, but we picked up where we left off and felt very comfortable catching up. She has a such a loving family all had welcomed us and made us feel so special.

We couldn’t believe we made it to Idaho on our second day driving from So Cal. We stayed just into Idaho near the city of Malad. Malad was named by a French trapper who’s men had gotten ill. Believing it was the water there, he named it Malad from the French word Malade which means sick or bad. We were glad to get to the spot in the daylight (long days). We were going to make it to Ed and Nancy’s farm early on the third day of driving.

We left Mountain Lakes and started driving. It felt really good. We made it to Leeds Utah. Leeds is named after the city in England. A missionary had been in Leeds and liked it, so he named the town in Utah after it. It was a quick overnight stay. Uneventful. Leeds RV Park and Motel. You can see our truck and trailer way back there. This RV Park is used by people visiting Zion National Park.

Picking up the Truck and Trailer

This is a photo of the very beginning of our road trip. We picked up the trailer from Storage in Pomona CA. We moved it to Mountain Lakes Resort in Lytle Creek so we could prep it for leaving CA. We had multiple trips back and forth to Mom’s house to pick up and drop off stuff. Eventually we’d figure out which things made it in the rig that had no business there. Big folding table? lol

Little did we know that we’d be trading in the truck and trailer in a couple months.

OK… this is how 2020 started. I’m putting things into the blog months later. Of course at New Years, there was no way to know what an odd year 2020 would be.

I retired 12-31-2019 and took year end vacation so Sharon and I could be in Prescott AZ for New Years Eve with my sister and her husband. We saw “the Boot Drop” which is an annual thing like the ball drop in NY.

We visited Sedona and saw Sharons Uncle and Aunt in Prescott as well.
